By Balogun Damilola
The ongoing counter terrorism war in the North East may be won sooner than expected as members of Boko Haram terror group are beginning to battle with hunger as troops of Nigerian Army have blocked their main supply route.
The troops have in recent days embarked on robust patrol of the main route for the supply of food and logistics to the insurgents. It was gathered that this strategy has left the terrorists battling with severe hunger and lack of logistic supply in their hideouts.
However, in spite of the weeks of lockdown in the country, Nigerian Army have managed to carried out massive deployment and launching of equipment in the theatre commands. Also, it has been reliably gathered that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai is personally on ground at the command theatre to oversee strategic decision for the next phase of clearance operation that is to be based on human intelligence.
Moreso, it has also been gathered that both the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Air Staff are already working within a time frame to clear Lake Chad axis and Sambisa forest which is the stronghold of Boko-Haram and ISWAP.
Meanwhile, soldiers at the war front have attested to the game changing presence of General Burutai at the front line in the ongoing counter terrorism operations in the North East. It was further gathered that the increasingly sustained offensive actions against Boko Haram has been as a result of the redefined motivated morale of the troops.
