NIMC registers 900 repentant Boko Haram members

The National Identity Management Commission on Monday announced that it had registered about 900 repentant Boko Haram members.

According to the commission, reliable and secured data of repentant and reintegrated members of Boko Haram were provided by the NIMC through the Operation Safe Corridor Advisory Committee.

The Director-General, NIMC, Aliyu Aziz, described the commission as a strategic partner in the effort at tackling the security challenges in the country.

He was quoted in a statement issued by the commission in Abuja as saying, “The commission has the capacity to support the Federal Government in the ongoing war against security challenges through its functional and world-class verification and authentication services residual in its modern and up-to-date database.”

Aziz said the commission had provided a credible platform to enroll and issue National Identification Number to repentant and reintegrated Boko Haram members, as well as verify their data as and when needed.
