Army Troops Kill Bandits In Taraba Joint Commando Operations
Nigerian Army troops of Operation Whirl Stroke that is operating under Operation Accord and deployed at Gbise in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State and Sector 4 in Taraba State
have killed some bandits during a jointly conducted commando raid operation.
The armed bandits were killed by the troops in the early hours of June 29, 2020 at Rafin Kada in Wukari Local Government Area and Yojaa in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State. Some bandits were also killed when the troops came in contact with suspected Tiv militias at Che Jukun village.
A credible military source revealed that the armed militia promptly opened fire on sighting the troops, but the valiant soldiers responded with superior firepower which led to the killing of four bandits during the encounter while unconfirmed number escaped with gunshot wounds.
Hideouts of the bandits were destroyed by the troops while items recovered from the them include
2 locally made rifles, 55 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 117 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and 3 mobile phones. Other items recovered by the troops are 3 AK 47 magazines, 2 motorcycles, one military shirt uniform, 1 Peace Corps ID Card belonging to one Mr Anyor Fidelis and some charms.
