Soldiers Can Voluntarily Retire For Different Reasons
The recent voluntary retirement of 352 soldiers from the services of Nigerian Army should expectedly not raise dust of any form. It must be acknowledged that voluntary retirement of soldiers is allowed everywhere in the world.
More than half of the 352 soldiers applied for voluntary retirement due to health reasons after being certified medically unfit by the doctors of Nigerian Army. Some of the soldiers also opted to quit the services of Nigerian Army to pursue another course of career after obtaining higher educational qualifications. Similarly, some of the army personnel opted to retire voluntarily due to personal reasons.
Be as it may, voluntary disengagement of mere 352 soldiers from the army was nothing compared to several thousands that are still struggling to join Nigerian Army. This figure has not and cannot in any way affect the productivity of Nigerian Army.
