Army Troops Kill Top Boko Haram Leaders in Sambisa Forest

Nigerian Army troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed several top leaders and war commanders of Boko Haram terrorists while attempting to cross from Cameroon border to the axis of Sambisa forest on July 17, 2020.

According to a statement released on Sunday, July 19, 2020 by the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, the troops had responded to a credible intelligence to target the terrorists on their market activities and undercover movement around Kolofata, a border town with Cameroon. The troops of Strong Response Area (SRA) Pulka acted professionally to have eliminated six of the terrorists during the operation.

A top Boko Haram commander named Sayinna and other fighters were also confirmed killed during the Sambisa axis operation. Also, other terrorist that were confirmed killed in the operation was the suspected Imam and Mansur to a top leader of Boko, Abu Fatima who is hibernating in Sambisa forest.

Moreso, Boko Haram and ISWAP leaders confirmed to have been killed during an encounter with Nigerian Army troops at Damasak and subsequently buried by the terrorists at Goski village in the early hours of July 3, 2020 include
Tumbun Dabino- Ba Issoufou, Tumbun Bororo -Amir Batam, Tumbun Jaki -Almustapha and Tumbun Bagaruw- Modou Kollo.
Others were Dogon Tchoukou- Issah, Tumbun Rakke-Mustapha Woulama, Tumbun Dila-Boukar Kowa and Tumbun Mita-Abou Aisha.

Similarly, eight prominent leaders of Boko Haram were also confirmed killed earlier in July, 2020 at Damask when they attempted to attack Nigerian Army troops from two flanks in a bid to cause them massive casualty. However, the troops succeeded in eliminating the terrorists with their superior fire powers while the rest of them escaped with fatal gunshot injuries.

Meanwhile, weapons, equipment and items captured from the terror elements include 3 AK 47 rifles, magazine with 48 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one Honda salon car, one motorcycle and 8 bicycles. Items also captured from the criminals were 3 mobile phones with multiple sims and memory cards and 5 copies of the Holy Qur’an, among others. Also captured from the terrorists include a letter written in Hausa language to a top commander of Boko Haram, Abu Fatima, documents and other logistics.
