Ondo Community Begs Akeredolu To Complete Road Project of OBHS
The people of Ondo West Local Government Area and the Concerned Old Students of Ondo Boys High School (OBHS) have appealed to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to direct the complete the abandoned road project of the oldest secondary school in the old Ondo State.
It will be recalled that Pa Reuben Fasoranti had led other old students of OBHS to the office of Aranrunkin Akeredolu in January 2019 to inform him of bad state of internal road of the school ahead of the school’s centenary anniversary.
Governor Akeredolu gave his words on construction of internal road of the school and promise to name same after the Afenifere leader when completed.
However, the contractor mobilized to the school had since abandoned site after only 10% of job completion. The abandoned road of Ondo Boys High School (OBHS) has since led to the permanent closure of the new gate of the institution due to impassable state of the road.
While lamenting the abandoned project, Abimbola Akinsete who issued a statement on behalf of the Concerned Old Students of OBHS stated that the joy of Ondo community which greeted the intervention of Arakunrin Akeredolu’s led government was rather short lived due to the abandonment of site by the contractor.
“The statement read in part, “Today, the road is more deplorable than it was before the state government’s intervention. The side earlier graded is now in a terrible shape and impassable. This has therefore prompted the school management to permanently close the second gate of the institution. This has equally led to untold hardship for the staff, students and visitors to the school”.
Meanwhile, Akinsete has appealed to the ‘talk and do’ governor of Ondo State to order the contractor back to site for the project’s completion.
“We are pleading with our ‘talk and do’ governor to please direct the contractor to return to site for a good and speedily completed project”.
