Jegede visits Mimiko, seeks ex-gov’s support
The Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the October 10, 2020 election, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, on Monday visited his former principal, the former governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Jegede was reported to have arrived at the former governor’s residence in Ondo town around 8pm in company of some PDP chieftains.
Although, the details of what they discussed were not made public, our correspondent gathered that the PDP candidate went to ask for Mimiko’s support for his election.
Mimiko and Jegede fell apart after the 2016 governorship election when the latter contested under the platform of the PDP but to lost to the incumbent state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu.
Mimiko, is the national leader of the ZLP, a party that is reported to have adopted the state deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi as its candidate for the election.
Mimiko’s media aide, Mr. John-Paul Akinduro said, “I was not at the meeting but it is true that Mr Jegede visited my boss on Monday. But I don’t know what was discussed.”
