Nigerian Army has signed Memorandums of Understanding with Super Green Security Limited, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and Command Engineering Depot for the production of military hardware and other defence equipment.

The memoranda Of Understanding were signed on Thursday, August 6, 2020. The signed agreements were in line with the Executive Order Number 5 that was signed into law in 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari. The Executive Order was aimed at improving local content in the public procurement of science, engineering and technological equipment.

Also, the apartments were signed in line with the desire of Federal Government to ensure that individuals and organisations produce their basic needs. Nigerian Army has therefore since keyed into the agenda of the federal government with its ingenious manufacturing of combat vehicles and equipment such as Ezugwu Mines Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, TYB Infantry Patrol Vehicles, the Conqueror MRAPs, boots, steel helmets and fragmentation jackets among others.

At the agreement signing event, the
Army Chief of Policy and Plans,
Lieutenant General L O Adeosun signed on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff. Moreso, Major General A B Abubakar (rtd) signed for Super Green Security Nigeria Limited while Major General S S Araoye signed for Command Engineering Depot. Also, Major General Victor Ezugwu signed for Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria in his capacity as the Director General.

While signing the agreements, Major General Victor Ezugwu
commended the leadership of Nigerian Army for its gradual but steady efforts towards making the Army become self-sustaining in the development and production of military hardware and equipment.

He added that the commendable strides by Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai had saved the nation huge amount of foreign exchange that could have been committed to the procurement of equipment and products that are often not readily available in the open market.
