Akeredolu’s tuition fee reduction is Greek gift, says Ajayi

Deputy Governor of Ondo State and governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Hon Agboola Ajayi, has urged residents of the state to reject the planned reduction of tuition fees in tertiary institutions in the state.

Hon Agboola said it was a Greek gift from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and unnecessary at the moment because many students have dropped out of school over hiked tuition fees.

Agboola who described the action as an afterthought said that he fell out with Governor Akeredolu over the increase in tuition fees because it was done without consideration of the income of parents.

The Ondo Deputy Governor revealed that Governor Akeredolu was afraid of losing the October 10 governorship election.

Agboola, who spoke through his Media Adviser, Allen Sowore, said he kicked against what he termed obnoxious policy of an increase in the tuition fees and stoppage of the payment of WASSCE fees for secondary school pupils.

He said he was shocked that the governor mooted a reduction in tuition fees without making reference to his efforts.

“The good people of Ondo State should be wary of this proposed change of heart, as it does not in any way represent genuine love for the masses.

“It’ is a manipulative Greek gift and decoy solely intended to swindle the people of their votes (that is, their power) in the forthcoming governorship election in the state,” Agboola said.
