Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has presented a cheque of N20 million naira to the widow of late Colonel D.C Bako who died on Monday after an ambush by Boko Haram on Sunday during a clearance operation.

Governor Zulum also reassured Mrs Bako that his earlier pledge to provide a house for the family of the late Colonel Bako would be redeemed. The Governor also made a donation of N2 million each to the families of the other 3 soldiers that also paid the supreme price alongside Colonel Bako during the Sunday’s ambush attack.

Governor Zulum made these donations on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 when he visited the widow of the late Colonel D.C Bako at the Command Guest House in Maiduguri. The Governor was received by the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General AK Ibrahim.

Speaking during the visit, Zulum sympathized deeply with the widow of the late Colonel Bako for the painful loss of her husband while he was serving the nation.

Meanwhile, the visit was also been described as one of the ways through which Governor Zulum has expressed his immense appreciation on behalf of the people of Borno State to the troops of Nigerian Army for their commitment and sacrifices in the fight against insurgency in the North eastern region of Nigeria.
