The Divisional Police Officer of Ifo Police Division, Adeniyi Adekunle, who got wind of the attack, mobilised men to arrest the suspects while others escaped.

Adekunle, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and his men also found a -25- year old man identified as Sunday in a pool of his blood as a result of several machete cuts inflicted on his body.

The victim was taken to a General Hospital in the town where he was confirmed dead.

Also injured during the attack is one Muhammed, a trailer driver while one Olalekan Alade was robbed of his phone by the hoodlums.

Five different phones snatched from different people by the suspects were recovered from them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID) for thorough investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun.

Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said fleeing members of the gang would be hunted and brought to face justice within the shortest possible time.

He quoted the Commissioner of police to have warned those who think that police had abandoned their duty as a result of the recent protest should better have a rethink or be dealt with.
