Super Eagles rated 35th on FIFA ranking, 4th in Africa
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have lost their 29th position ranked by FIFA in September to be rated 35th in November, just two months later.
The three-time African champions could not win a game in their four outings in 2020 and their latest woeful performance against Sierra Leone have dealt a big blow on the ratings of Gernot Rohr’s led boys.
In the African ranking, Senegal is placed 20th and first in Africa with 1549 points considered highest in Africa, then, followed by Tunisia who is rated 26th in the world and second in Africa with 1507 points. Algeria who defeated Nigeria twice in their last two recent meetings are placed third in Africa with one point better than the most populous African nation.
The Super Eagles are fourth in Africa scoring 1488 points.
However, the biggest climbers this month are two other African sides: Equatorial Guinea (134th) jumped ten places in rating and Burundi (138th) who also moved up ten places in FIFA ranking. The former shone in back-to-back victories over Libya (111th, -9) in AFCON qualifying, while the latter first drew and then beat Mauritania (101st, -3) in the same competition.
