Member of House of Representatives and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye has lauded the supreme sacrifice made by men and officers of Nigerian Army to keep the nation safe.
Adefisoye, particularly praised the personnel of Nigerian Army that are in different theater commands where they are battling insurgents and armed bandits on a daily basis. He described the unseen and unknown sacrificial gallantry of
Nigerian Army personnel as patriotically unquantifiable.
He made this assertion in a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the 2021 Armed Forces Day. The statement reads in parts, “Patriotic gallantry of our armed forces is truly worthy being celebrated on a yearly basis. No one can deny the fact that the relative peace we enjoy in the country is due largely to the efforts of our armed forces.
“It is therefore important to commemorate the yearly Armed Forces Day with programmes and packages that will give better comfort to the families of patriotic personnel that have paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
It is equally necessary to ensure the welfare of personnel that got maimed and became permanently incapacitated due to injuries sustained while fighting for the nation.
However, Adefisoye has urged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of showing modicum of appreciation to the personnel of Nigerian Armed Forces for their daily sacrifices to ensure peace in the country.
“It should be underscored that most Nigerians do not really know the extent of the sacrifices being made on a daily basis by the personnel of Nigerian Armed Forces.
“Our gallant men and officers would stoically inclement weather while other Nigerians are in the comfort of their homes. They celebrate their national festivities in the uncertainties of trenches and battle fronts while other Nigerians enjoy the pleasure of being with their families. These are sacrifices that Nigerians must learn to appreciate.
Meanwhile, Adefisoye has assured that members of the National Assembly would continue to deploy their legislative powers to ensure better welfare for men and officers of Nigerian Armed Forces.
