MC Oluomo builds Mosque in mother’s honour
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, has built a mosque beside his Ejigbo residence in honour of his late mother, Alhaji Zinat Abebi Omotonwo.
The mosque was unveiled on Friday to mark the one year remembrance of his mother.
Alhaji Akinsanya said the gesture was meant to be a Sadaqah Jaariyah (a charity with long-term reward).
“Our various Islamic scholars have made us realised that whoever wants to honour his parents, let him give charity on their behalf, for the reward of charity will reach the deceased and benefit them. This mosque is my own little way of honouring my late mum. She truly deserves more than this. I pray Allah accepts as an act of Ibadah and make the rewards to reach her,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, hailed Akinsanya for the initiative.
The monarch prayed that his (Akinsanya’s) children will also honour him.
Oba Akanbi, who described religion as the backbone of politics, urged politicians to be upright in governance as they are in practicing their religion.
“As a politician that wants to practice religion, stop deceiving people by promising what you cannot do, Islam does not permit that”, he said
The guest lecturer, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, commended MC Oluomo for building a mosque during Ramadan, adding that this would help true believers to worship God.
“From what Oluomo is doing today, I can say that he really loves his mother. He has done well by building a mosque for his mother. Automatically, the reward of that particular mosque will come from Allah and Allah will reward him”, he said.
