Nigeria Army Troops Arrest 13 Suspected Boko Haram Terrorists in Kano
The fight against banditry and insurgency in the northern states of Nigeria took another positive turn on Saturday 8 May 2021 when troops of the third Brigade, Nigerian Army invaded and arrested 13 suspected Boko Haram members around Filin Lazio, Hotoro axis of Kano State.
In a statement made public to newsman today, 9th May 2021, by the Director; Army Public Relations; Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, he stated that the sting operation was premeditated to flush out sleeper terrorist agents who may want to lie dormant in any part of Kano State.
General Yerima whilst reiterating the readiness of the Nigerian army to protect Nigerians and their properties assured the general public and residents of Filin Lazio Hotoro to go about their lawful businesses as officers of the Nigerian Army are on top of the situation.
“In an ongoing effort to flush out all forms of criminality within its Area of Responsibility, troops of 3 Brigade Nigerian Army have arrested 13 suspected Boko Haram terrorists around Filin Lazio, Hotoro axis of Kano State on Saturday 8 May 2021.”
He consequently called on the residents of Kano and the general public to be vigilant and synergize with security operatives in protecting lives and properties.
“Nigerian Army wishes to use this medium to appeal to the peace-loving people of Kano State to maintain a high level of vigilance and continue to report the suspected movement of strange individuals or groups in their environment to the relevant security agencies for prompt action,’ the statement concluded.
