Ondo mob burns truck for killing three on Okada
No fewer than three persons were crushed to death by a truck along the Akure-Ondo Expressway Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday.
A witness, who asked not to be identified, explained that the accident involved the truck and a commercial motorcycle, adding that the deceased were on the motorcycle.
He noted that the accident was caused by recklessness on the part of the motorcyclist and the truck driver.
“The truck ran over the three men on the Okada and they died on the spot,” the witness added.
It was gathered that some youths, suspected to be Okada riders in the area, set the truck ablaze.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo State, Abiola Fadumo, who confirmed the incident, said the intervention of the police helped to calm the situation.
A spokesman for the police in the state, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, said he had yet to be briefed on the incident.
