Eriksen was hospitalised on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest during the first half of Denmark’s EURO 2020 Group B opener against Finland at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen which his team lost by a lone goal.

Paramedics rushed to the field to give the 29-year-old CPR for about 13 minutes before he was eventually resuscitated.

The Inter Millan midfielder was fitted with an under-skin heart starting device known as Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICB) during the operation.

The Danish FA in the tweet said, “Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet. Today, he also visited the national team in Helsinger and from there, he will go home and spend time with his family.”

Speaking after being discharged from the hospital, Eriksen said, “Thank you for the massive number of greetings – it has been incredible to see and feel.

The operation went well, and I am doing really well under the circumstances.”

Encouraging his team mates ahead of their next group match on Monday, he added that, “it was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night.

No need to say that I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia.”
