Tinubu pledges to establish agro industrial processing zone in Yobe
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised to establish agro industrial zone in Yobe State, if elected.
He made the pledge in Damaturu yesterday while addressing the 228 APC delegates.
He said the zone would support speedy and sustainable agricultural development in the state and the country by extension.
“I can mentally picture maize, millet, sorghum, cotton and so on. I will encourage industrial processing zone for Yobe.
“Very good you have an airport; I landed safely on it. But it is not to be there without the cargo and necessary investment to promote the growth and development of Yobe.
“You need a president like me who can see value in your land, who can see commodity exchange,” he said.
The presidential hopeful expressed dissatisfaction at the inability of successive military regimes to sustain commodities marketing boards.
“We need the marketing boards to establish commodities exchange to guarantee good pricing to the farmers.
“We should not be talking about hunger or not being a rich country; we are rich.
“Israel has no oil; no land, it is a pure desert. Today they grow vegetables to the rest of the world, marketing items and making progress because they commit themselves to it.
“As a president, I will commit myself to the growth and prosperity of our country,” he said.
The APC National Leader said he would ensure that security challenges bedevilling some parts of the country were tackled.
Tinubu appealed to the delegates to vote for him at the party’s presidential primaries, assuring them that he would never fail them.
The APC presidential aspirant, who arrived Yobe State en route Yobe International Cargo Airport, was received by the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, with members of the state executive council, members of the House of Assembly, member of the National Assembly and other dignitaries.
Tinubu, who met with delegates at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Damaturu, promised to deliver an effective leadership if given the chance to be president.
Asiwaju, who appreciated the infrastructural development in the state, especially the Cargo International Airport, said the infrastructure had to be linked to agriculture for the development and the benefit of the people.
The National Coordinator of Asiwaju Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Sen. Kashim Shettima, told the delegates why Tinubu is the best man for the job of the president.
According to the former governor of Borno State, Asiwaju Tinubu is the man that has capacity to take Nigeria out of her current woes, based on his track record as a freedom fighter for democracy in Nigeria.
Senator Shettima praised Governor Mai Mala Buni for his contributions to the growth of the APC.
Governor Buni had received Asiwaju Tinubu and his entourage when the APC presidential hopeful paid him a courtesy call at the Government House in Damaturu.
He told Tinubu that he did not need to come to Yobe for campaign
“Asiwaju, you don’t need to come to Yobe for campaign. In 2015, it was only Yobe that granted campaign waiver to President Muhammadu Buhari because of the security situation. We are happy that you have come. It is home coming. That is my assurance
“The history of democratic struggle in Nigeria cannot be complete without your name from the NADECO days that saw the military out of power throughout the merger of what we are enjoying today.
“You do not need to come to Yobe. Yobe is your home, you are welcome to Yobe,” Governor Buni said.
