Aiyedatiwa: Arguments and Experiences of A loyalist

Being a deputy governor in Nigeria is most demanding because of sycophants who tried to create confusion and a rift between governors and their deputies.

Nigerian contemporary history has shown that the relationship between governors and their deputies is not what it should be.

Most of them are actually operating like cats and rats and some are actually going for each other’s jugular.

The event of 1983 in Ondo State readily comes to mind when the relationship between the late Pa Ajasin and Chief Omoboriowo set the state on fire.

The current Deputy governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa assumed office on the 24th of February, 2021 after a sour relationship between the estwhile deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi and the incumbent that led to them parting ways.

These ugly narratives are what Aiyedatiwa has vowed to change on assuption of office.

Aiyedatiwa has shown candour and utmost commitment to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu even in the face of provocation. As we speak, Aiyedatiwa lives in his private house because official residence at the government house is not available for him (that story will be told some other day), he uses his private SUV to run government businesses and he has never had any altercation with his boss on any issue, either convenient or not – Aketi’s interest is his interest!

How else can one show loyalty?

Despite noticeable roles played by the sycophants – if you like call them Cabal, Aiyedatiwa has been unruffled, still pledging loyalty to his boss.

The recent developments in the political arena in Ondo state have however left discerning minds agaped. The maneuvering came to it’s head with the trumped-up charges by some members of the state House of Assembly – this is very appalling.

For those who might not know Aiyedatiwa, he is a business development professional and a successful business man with interest and substantial experience in Marketing, Financial and Human resources management, New Product Development, Forex Trading and Management, Construction, Real Estate, Hospitality, Public Relations, Travels and Tours.

He is the MD/CEO of Blue Wall Group of Companies established in 1996 which includes; Blue Wall Nigeria Ltd, a Trading Company, Blue Wall BDC Nigeria Ltd, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) licensed foreign exchange trading company and Blue Wall Safety Travels and Tours, an IATA licensed Travel Agency and Logistic Company.

He was appointed Federal Commissioner who represented Ondo State on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), 2018–2019.

So, alledging that he diverted 300 million naira to buy SUV is laughable.

Well, this is not surprising, sources close to the state House of Assembly have confirmed that most of those who are bent on removing Aiyedatiwa as the Deputy governor of Ondo State are now smiling to their banks. Each of them have been given 7.5 million naira and a land in choice areas of Akure, the Ondo State capital to do the hatchet job by their sponsors.

His ambition to succeed his boss in 2025 can not be divorced from this shenanigans playing out, but the political charlatans have forgotten that what God has destined to be, no man can change it!

Until then, what the people of Ondo State crave for at the moment is good governance that will percolate. This is what should be paramount in the minds of everyone rather than dissipating energy on attempt to remove Aiyedatiwa over unsubstantiated claims.
