Power isn’t a Birthright, Vacate the Office until you’re fit to Rule – Ogundamisi tells Akeredolu.

A pro-democracy and civil rights activist, Kayode Ogundamisi, has asked ailing Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, of Ondo State to admit the state of his ill-health, and vacate office until he is fit.

Ogundamisi said that Akeredolu’s long absence in office has paralysed the state, stressing that though the people of the state wish him well and quick recovery, the state deserves better.

He said these in a statement on Friday he captioned “Shockhold by the Akeredolu Dynasty: Ondo State deserves better.”

According to Ogundamisi, “The issue is very simple. Our Governor Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has been absent from the State for several months, Our State is paralyzed.

“The constitution is very clear, the Governor is obviously incapacitated and those who benefit from his absence are milking Ondo State for their own personal benefit.

“We all wish Akeredolu well, we cannot however have Ondo State governed via proxies and few members of Akeredolu’s immediate family; this is unacceptable.

“It is a shame the ruling APC encouraged this gross violation and those who would usually condemn such violations are the ones playing on the intelligence of the good people of Ondo State.

“It is time for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to come clean, temporarily vacate office until he’s fit enough to govern in full. Power is not a birthright that should be held by all means. Akeredolu and the cabals in Ondo State should do the right thing.

“The State House of Assembly should do the needful if the Cabinet members are putting their own bread over the progress of Ondo State.”
