The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate disbandment of the Special Investigation Squad (SIS) unit within the Ondo State Police Command. This is according to a tweet by Ondo’s Foremost Youth Advocate Mr Oluyemi Fasipe. This action comes in response to allegations of extortion made against the unit, with the investigation being personally overseen by the Inspector-General himself.

The disbandment follows a complaint filed by Ondo’s Foremost Youth Advocate and Social Media guru Oluyemi Fasipe who publicly accused officers attached to the SIS unit as “Notorious” for extorting a man of N41,000.

Yemie Fash who had on Thursday in a Tweet on X
called out the Unit for a case of Profiling and Extortion. In the tweet, he said “They are notorious for randomly arresting young people, profiling them, and extorting money from them. They don’t use police vehicles and don’t wear police uniforms.”
