Cleric Advises Akeredolu’s Family to Have Faith in God, Urges Aiyedatiwa to Prioritize Good Governance
The Diocesan Bishop of The Cathedral Church of St Andrew, Imola, Owo, Rt. Revd. Stephen Fagbemi has urged the family of Late Governor Akeredolu to put their hope in God.
In his sermon titled “Jesus Christ, the sufficient High Priest”, Rt. Revd. Fagbemi also charged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on good governance, stressing that he should leave no stone unturned in keeping his agenda.
Taking his sermon from the book of Hebrews 7 vs 17, he stressed that the verse is just like an answer to a question. It shows the weakness in the understanding of the priests in the old testament.
“Because they are human with limitations, they need to have an atonement for themselves. The priests, as humans, have a beginning and must also have an end”.
“You can’t put your trust in human who have a beginning and also, have an end, they all have their weakness. That is why you have to look at Jesus, always.
Jesus was the only one that stood for the sins of the whole world, He is a priest for ever, He is the highest priest, who doesn’t change and he’s enough for us all. There are goodness in the work of Christ, he brought us salvation, he intercedes for us everytime and He is forever available”.
Revd. Fagbemi urged everyone to call uopn God through the Lord Jesus Christ, whenever they are in trouble. “He’s the only one who doesn’t change, whenever you look up to Jesus, He will answer you, irrespective of where you are, God can use a somebody to support you, but don’t put them in God’s place”.
“Today, our beloved Chancellor is no more with us, it’s not because we don’t pray, it’s because that’s his time, don’t forget he is man, not God.
For the entire family, don’t mourn like unbeliever, look up to God, there’s already a promise for you, the Lord will uphold you and see you through your journey.
He appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for giving his principal a befitting burial, urging him to ensure that the principle with which the administration started continues. He also assured him of the church’s spiritual support.
He urged the people in government to do their best to ensure that people are okay.
