Ondo Assembly reiterates commitment to good governance

The Ondo State House of Assembly has reiterated its commitment of addressing governmental and constitutional issues with vision and the fear of God for the desired good governance.

The Speaker of the House of the Assembly, Chief Olamide Oladiji, gave the assurance on Sunday at the Government House Chapel, Akure.

The News Agency of Nigeria( NAN) reports that lawmakers and member of the assembly attended a special Sunday service at the chapel.

The service is part of the State Government’s Agenda that Ministries and Parastatal should set aside a day to Worship God at the Government House Chapel, Akure.

Oladiji said Nigeria needed leaders with vision and foresight to overcome its challenges, promising that as lawmakers, they would continue to enact laws that would improve the lives of the people of the state.

He said the State High Court Bill with others which was assented to by Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa recently was a testament that the legislature put the people first in its dealings.

The speaker assured that the legislature would continue to work with executive to achieve success for the betterment of the entire citizenry.

Oladiji, in his remarks, recalled that despite different challenges as human beings, they had been able to overcom.

He expressed joy for the gift of life, saying it was necessary for lawmakers and civil servants at the Assembly to rejoice and join their faith together as they journeyed in the remaining months of 2024.

In his words, the state governor, who welcomed the state Assembly of the Assembly to the service, prayed that God would bless them richy with greatness.

Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Michael Ogunboyede, explained that it is by God’s grace and mercy that human beings exist, hence the need to always give thanks to God.

Ogunboyede read the 2 Chronicles, Chapter 25, verse 1 to verse 4 and Psalms Chapter 1, verse 1 to verse 4, tagged his sermon ” Good Leadership is not Expressed by Age.”

He admonished worshippers to be transparent,honest, maintain integrity, love one another, among others, adding that these are things that could strengthen organisational and societal development.

The clergyman implored people to make adjustments as they would go into the second half of the year and do what is right both internally and externally and make a difference so as to be fruitful.

Intercessory prayers for peace, blessings and development were offered for the people and the the state.
