Ondo govt. allocates 100 hectares of land to civil servants

About 100 hectares of land have been allocated as an estate for civil servants in Ondo State as a way of becoming land and house owners.

Those who have purchased the land will also be assisted in tapping opportunities available in developing process to make it easy for them.

The General Manager, State Development and Property Corporation, Micheal Amure stated this while playing host to the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Housing during a visit to the Corporation in Akure.

While reeling out their activities, challenges and achievements to the committee members, Mr. amure informed that the cooperation is saddled with the responsibility of providing shelter for the people.

He said the 100 hectares which is located at Ilu abo, in Akure North, will not only provide housing, but engender development to the area, noting that they are partnering with developing firms to develop more property in the State .

The GM who said that part of their new initiative was to start building structures at affordable cost to the people in order to ensure all lands were developed.

Amure added that apart from housing, OSDPC also generates revenue from sales of land, making assets attractive to people as well as re-orientate them on the need to get lands, build on them and live at developing areas which they have always neglected.

The GM appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his passion at providing shelter for the people assuring of the cooperation’s readiness to work hand in glove with the legislature to develop the State .

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee on Lands and Housing, Hon. Biola Oladapo appreciated Management of OSPDC for their pro-activeness and innovative steps in providing shelter for the citizenry.

While describing housing as a key factor in governance, Oladapo said the people are in dire need of housing which OSDPC must execute in line with government’s policy.

He assured of legislative support to aid the Agency surmount its challenges so that it can perform optimally.

Other Members called for synergy between them to further develop the State, charging them to continue to take advantage of things that will be beneficial to the people of the State.
