Ondo 2024: APC leaders call for unity ahead of Nov. 16 poll

The leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have emphasized the importance of unity and cohesion among party members to secure victory in the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

This message was conveyed during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure by the party’s leaders from the Irele Local Government Area.

The leaders resolved to combine their resources to re-elect Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming election, emphasizing the party’s interest and the benefit to the people of the state.

In his address, the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, called for unity among the party leaders to ensure Aiyedatiwa’s victory.

Igbasan, who hosted the meeting, expressed gratitude to the party leaders and stressed that unity and cooperation were essential for the party’s success, which would subsequently lead to the development of the local government area.

In his remarks, the APC Chairman in the local government, Chief Zechariah Omoge, stated that “ our victory can only be achieved through unity”, adding that the presence of the leaders at the meeting showed their readiness to come together to support Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s re-election.

Also speaking, the foremost leader of the local government, Sen. Yele Omogunwa, said it was sacrosanct for a united Irele local government area in order to drive home modern development and new dawn in the land flowing with bitumen.

Omogunwa said oneness among members of the party to ensure the victory of Gov. Aiyedatiwa was not negotiable in the forthcoming governorship election.

Similarly, the former Commissioner for Justice in the state, Dr Remi Olatubora, asked for prevalent unity and appealed to the party’s leaders to settle their differences for the interest of the party.

According to Olatubora , the development of the area is rapped up in the coming together of substantial stakeholders, saying the time to be divided is over.

“Let’s bury hatchets, do away with complexes, when we are in unity of purpose, then victory comes and development is guaranteed,” he said.

The Special Adviser (SA) on Health Matters to Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, systematically highlighted a model that could give APC victory in the poll.

Odimayo said that if there could be rigorous grassroots mobilisation, he envisaged massive votes for APC in the election.

He explained that electing Gov. Aiyedatiwa during the poll would put smiles on the people of the grassroots across the state.

According to him, there is need for strategic voters’ mobilization from every household, unit and ward level across the local government area.

In tandem with Odumayo’s view, the State Woman Leader of the party, Mrs Mojisola Lijoka, said grassroots mobilization was crucial, hence the need for everyone to be united and that every leader should be up and doing.
