AAUA Don to Examine Economic, Financial Strategies at 27th Inaugural Lecture

All is set for the 27th Inaugural Lecture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, which will be delivered by Professor of Banking and Finance, Sunday Ojo Akinmulegun.

The lecture, titled Navigating Economic Conundrum through Globalization and Financial Strategies, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the University Multipurpose Hall, starting at 2:00 PM.

A statement from the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, urged members of the University community and invited guests to be seated by 1:30 PM.

The Inaugural Lecturer, Prof. Sunday Akinmulegun, was born in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, obtained in 1991, and a Master of Business Administration from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), earned in 1998.

He also holds a Master’s in Banking and Finance (2006) and a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance (2011), both from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti.

Prof. Akinmulegun began his career at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, on January 25, 1993, as a Graduate Assistant. He rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2018.

In the course of his career, Prof. Akinmulegun has held several administrative and academic positions, including Acting Head of the Department of Banking and Finance, Examination and Level Coordinator in the Department, Coordinator of the Institute of Part-time Programmes, and Coordinator of Diploma Programmes within the Institute of Part-time Programmes, among others.

His contributions to the broader society are significant.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Nigerian Society for Financial Research, the International Research and Development Institute, and the Institute of Policy Management Development.

He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Company and Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Society for Financial Research.

Prof. Akinmulegun has received numerous awards, including the Ondo State Postgraduate Scholarship Award (2004), Best Overall Final Year Student’s Prize in the Department of Banking and Finance, Ondo State University (1991), Best Student’s Prize in Public Finance, and the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Economic, Financial and Management Outlooks, Asian Economic and Social Society, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2013).

He has authored more than 45 research papers and publications in esteemed journals both locally and internationally, and has contributed to numerous other published works.

Prof. Akinmulegun has also supervised many students and researchers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and he is a highly sought-after speaker at seminars and conferences worldwide.
