A seven-story building on Lagos Island was consumed by a fire that erupted on Friday morning, destroying several shops.
Lagos State authorities confirmed the incident, with the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, stating that firefighters successfully contained the blaze.
According to Ms. Adeseye, the agency received a distress call from Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island Local Government Area at approximately 5:17 a.m.
“The fire affected several shops within a 7-storey building. Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations promptly responded, arriving at the scene by 05:33 hours.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical surge. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported,” said Ms Adeseye
