Aiyedatiwa to Corps Members: Be selfless in your service to Nation

The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has charged the graduate youths deployed to the state for National Service to be selfless in their service to the nation.

The Executive Governor, made this charged in his address during the swearing ceremony for the 2024 Batch “B” ( stream ii ) Corps Members deployed to the state.

“It is noteworthy that your call – up to service is coming up at a time in our national history when questions and concerns are being raised on the Development and future of our youths. This is therefore a time for sober reflection on the evolution of our dear country and your role as a catalysts for the much needed national rebirth and reconstruction”.

He therefore reminded them to eschew all negatives tendencies and re-dedicate themselves with all vim and vigor to the task of bringing about positive changes.

“I want to remind you that in a few months’ time, we shall be going to the poll for another Gubernatorial election in Ondo State. I want to admonished you to remain neutral and carry out election duties in line with the INEC laid down rules and regulations. I implored you to also protect the integrity of NYSC as your functions during the election could make or mar the reputation the scheme has built over the years “, he stated.

The Governor, who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Saka Yusuf – Ogunleye assured that the welfare and the security of the Corps Members would be adequately taken care of during the service year.

“Our government would continue to support the National Youth Service Corps Members in the state at all times to ensure that you have a memorable service year”.

The Chairman NYSC Ondo State Governing Board, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Tolu Adeyemi said the Corps Members deployed to the state should not exhibit any fear since the State is peacefully secure, blessed with major tourist centre which includes: Idanre Hills in Idanre, Oke – Maria in Oka – Akoko, Ebomi lake in Ipesi – Akoko among others.

The oath of allegiance was administered on the prospective Corps Members by the representative of Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Ademola Enikuomehin who charged them to detest and shun bribery and all forms of corruption and nepotism.

In his introductory speech, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Samuel Amaramiro Pepple disclosed that the 1,613 patriotic and qualify corps members that are ready to serve Nigeria are made up of 803 males and 810 females, has shown remarkable interest in all camp activities, relating well with camp officials and entire camp community.

He showed gratitude to Mr. Governor for his visit during the last camp activities as he equally thank him for his outstanding support to the scheme in the state.
