Report reveals Bobrisky spent only three weeks in prison
An investigative piece by FIJ has uncovered that popular social media personality and crossdresser, Bobrisky, only spent three weeks of a six-month prison sentence behind bars, with the remainder of the time served at an undisclosed location.
According to Vanguard, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known by the public as Bobrisky, reportedly only stayed in prison for three weeks, despite a sentence that was supposed to last six months, according to FIJ’s findings.
The report emerged after Martins Vincent Otse, a social media activist widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording on Tuesday.
In the audio, Bobrisky allegedly claimed that he spent the majority of his sentence outside of prison. He also allegedly confessed to paying N15 million to bribe officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
FIJ confirmed that although Bobrisky was initially sent to Kirikiri prison in April following the court ruling, he left the facility after just three weeks. The report further states that Bobrisky was treated with presidential-like protection during his short time at the prison before being relocated.
A previous report by GWG.ng also noted Bobrisky’s noticeably chubby appearance after his release, leading to speculation regarding rumors that he may have been pregnant during his time in custody.
“Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before she was taken out to another place we don’t know,” a prison official told FIJ. “That was where she spent her time; it was an ‘arrangee thing’. And money was involved.”
The source also told FIJ how Bobrisky was “guarded like a president” until she was “secretly taken away after three weeks”.
“She received VIP treatment all through,” said the source. “She lived in a special cell. The money she said she paid is actually true; no lies. Yes, she paid the money.”
The information provided by the source aligns with a 2019 undercover investigation conducted by FIJ founder, ‘Fisayo Soyombo. In that investigation, Soyombo voluntarily got himself arrested, spending five days in police detention and eight days in prison.
His findings revealed that inmates could pay to stay in luxurious, well-furnished prison apartments, smuggle in contraband such as phones and drugs, and even have their names removed from official prison records. Additionally, it was possible for inmates to live outside the prison while pretending to serve their sentence.
While Bobrisky wasn’t allowed to interact freely with other inmates, limiting the likelihood of his absence being noticed, a prison official shared one notable incident with FIJ.
“There was this day one guy was on a video call with his girlfriend, and he suddenly turned the camera on Bobrisky,” the official said. “It was deemed an invasion of Bobrisky’s privacy, so, as punishment, he was locked up in his cell for nearly two months.”
The source added: “As I said, she was heavily guarded, so there weren’t many of such incidents to point at. And she was quietly taken away after three weeks.”
