The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Research and Documentation, Hon. Ewatomilola Emiola Owoeye, has been honored with the prestigious Iconic Humanitarian Award for her exceptional impact as the Founder of a life-changing NGO.

She received the award in recognition of her tireless efforts in uplifting the lives of widows and orphans through her NGO, which has brought hope and smiles to many in the community.

The event took place on Sunday, 29th September 2024, during the Democrat News Magazine’s Annual Public Lecture and Roll of Honours, held at HANDEF Hall, adjacent to the Akure South Local Government Secretariat.

In his comment, the Publisher of Democrat News Magazine, Deacon Alaba Aliu, commended Hon. Ewatomilola Emiola for her dedication and commitment to improving the lives of the vulnerable. He praised her for providing essential support to widows and orphans, acknowledging her as a beacon of hope in the community.

Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in his remarks, congratulated the Democrat News Magazine team for organizing a successful 2024 Annual Public Lecture and Roll of Honours. He praised his consistency in the media landscape, recalling his early days at Hope Newspaper as a freelancer, his role as a reporter at Sunshine Daily Watch, the first daily newspaper in Ondo State, and his contributions at Trace Magazine before he started Democrat News Magazine.

Prince Adeniyan also used the opportunity to urge the people of Ondo State to continue supporting Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa by voting overwhelmingly for him in the upcoming November 16, 2024 election to ensure the continuation of the governor’s developmental projects.

Earlier, the guest lecturer, Pastor (Dr.) Marcus Akinduko, an esteemed scholar, spoke on the topic “Navigating Economic Turbulence: Strategies for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria.” He referenced Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, highlighting that survival is the most critical need before other aspirations can be met.

Impacts of Ewatomilola Cares Initiative

The Ewatomilola Cares Initiative, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of the underserved, recently held the “Every Child Matters 2.0” project. As part of this initiative, school supplies were donated to the pupils of St. Paul Nursery & Primary School in Ologede, Ikole Ekiti to ease the burden on families by providing essential educational materials such as uniforms, sandals, notebooks, textbooks, pens, pencils, and markers on February 28, 2024.

In the same way, the Ewatomilola Cares Initiative extended its support to indigent individuals by covering hospital bills for those who could not afford medical care. The initiative also provided to elderly widows, widowers, and orphans, embodying the spirit of compassion and care for the lesson privileged.

The Ewatomilola Cares Initiative has always been inspired by biblical injunctions of James 1:27 which says: “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their troubles”. And the words of Jesus, who said in Matthew 25:35-40: “For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in; I needed clothes, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you looked after me; I was in prison, and you came to visit me.” When asked, “Lord, when did we do all these things for You?” Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.” These words serve as a guiding light for the organization’s charitable work.
