No talent’, Wizkid takes another swipe at Davido in fiery exchange
2nd October 2024
Afrobeats artiste, Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid, has once again stoked the flames of his long-standing rivalry with fellow artiste, David Adeleke a.k.a Davido, sparking a fresh war of words on social media.
The latest spat comes just months after the duo clashed on X (formerly Twitter), with Wizkid previously mocking Davido and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, in May.
At the time, Wizkid dismissed Don Jazzy as an “influencer” and shared a video of Davido on his knees, pleading for new music.
However, the drama resurfaced on Tuesday after Davido teased a snippet of his first single for 2024. Wizkid had also planned to release the first track of his highly anticipated “Morayo” album on the same day.
In a twist, Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, popularly known as Black Tycoone, took a jab at Wizkid, seemingly mocking the delay in his album drop. He tweeted, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.”
Unfazed, the Grammy award-winning singer responded by throwing shade at Davido’s camp, writing on X, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” before adding, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!”
Although Wizkid refrained from directly naming Davido, fans were quick to interpret the post as a clear shot at the ‘Fem’ crooner.
In defence of Davido, a fan hit back at Wizkid, accusing him of chasing clout by roping Davido into his online drama. “So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell?” the user tweeted.
Wizkid wasted no time in firing back, stating, “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!”
Refusing to let the matter die, Wizkid continued his tirade, dismissing Davido’s entire discography as “trash” and bragging about his own musical prowess. “80 trash! We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop! P***y boys!” he added.
Despite Wizkid’s relentless jabs, Davido has remained silent.
Speculation is rife that the latest tension may have been sparked by Davido’s recent performance at Tony Elumelu’s UBA anniversary in the United States. While Davido entertained the guests and posed for pictures with the billionaire businessman, Wizkid, who is a UBA brand ambassador, was conspicuously absent from the event.
The back-and-forth has generated several reactions on social media, with fans and celebrities weighing in on the feud. While some have criticized Wizkid for reigniting the rivalry, others are keen to see if Davido will finally respond.
A user with the handle @Rswagger03 speculated that Wizkid’s antics were merely a promotional tactic for his upcoming album. “Just beg us to promote your songs… beefing with elemi9+ won’t help your dead career or better still… ask Tems for help again,” he tweeted.
Another fan, @Amaruskills, dismissed Wizkid’s comments, suggesting the artiste was merely trying to remain relevant. “Lol, fame don dey fade, he don start to dey talk small small make dem no forget am,” the tweet read.
