Why I’m not thinking about 2027 election now – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that his primary focus is not on the 2027 general elections but on restructuring Nigeria’s economy to improve the lives of its citizens.

This statement was made amidst growing support from several key figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC), including former National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and governors from Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States—Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji. These leaders pledged their backing for President Tinubu’s re-election and endorsed the success of APC candidates in 2027.

The remarks were made during the 2024 South West Assembly of the APC, held in Victoria Island, Lagos, and hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, who serves as the party’s Zonal Coordinator. The event saw a strong turnout of party leaders, senators, members of the House of Representatives, State House of Assembly members, local government officials, and other stakeholders from the South-West.

In the assembly, which marked the first major gathering since Tinubu’s 2023 presidential win, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi delivered a keynote speech, describing Tinubu as a “listening leader” with a clear commitment to driving the nation’s success.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain patient, assuring them that his administration is committed to achieving meaningful progress for the country. The meeting also discussed the continued growth of the party, particularly in the South-West zone.
