Ondo; Committee Targets 700,000 Votes for APC, as Aiyedatiwa Harps on House-to-House Campaign
Seven hundred thousand, that is the total number of votes being projected for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo state.
At the unveiling of the 700,000 votes’ target in Akure on Monday, Prince Biyi Poroye, chairman of the special interest committee of the 2024 APC governorship campaign council, said his committee set the target because it is achievable, given the performance of the governor in the last 10 months.
According to him, “We have no doubt that the APC will win the November 16 governorship election but we must win brilliantly. It is our duty as members of the APC to reach out to everyone and canvass votes for our candidate. By this, we will win more people over to the party and achieve the target set for us, which is 700,000 votes”
Director General of the APC campaign council in Ondo state, Hon. Abiola Makinde, charged members of the party to remain united from the Polling Units to the state, so as to deliver overwhelming votes for the APC.
“I want us to go back to our various local government areas and replicate what we have done today, ward by ward, unit by unit. It is when we do this that we can achieve the set target of 700,000 votes for our party.
“There’s a huge reward for hard work and commitment. I urge you all not to be distracted but continue to march on until we record landslide victory for our party in November”, Makinde urged the party faithful.
Giving his remarks, the state chairman of the APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin, said members must re-double their efforts to surpass earlier votes by embarking on aggressive grassroots mobilization.
“It is your duty to go to the hinterlands and identify those who are registered voters and reach out to them, preaching the achievements of Governor Aiyedatiwa over the past 10 months. I can assure you that this goal is realistic and achievable” He said.
Appreciating the committee for the initiative, Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, said the APC government in Ondo state has set a record that is unmatched.
“What we are trying to do now is to break our own record that we already set in the state, in terms of politics and governance. Our achievements in the different sectors of the economy will speak for us and the people already trust us to do more when we return.
“I want to appeal to you to continue to mobilize those who have just registered to go and collect their voter’s cards to enable them participate in the November 16 election.
“We must embark on a house-to-house campaign and deepen our engagements with the people at every unit” the governor advised.
