Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad have arrested a 24-year-old chef, Olusola Folorunso, and a 47-year-old security guard, Rafiu Mutairu, for allegedly stealing their employer’s property valued at N5.5 million.

The RRS disclosed this in a statement posted on X.com on Tuesday.

The statement partly read, “The suspects, both working for the same employer at a popular estate in Ojodu, Ikeja, had, sometime in September 2024, carted away and sold off the property while their boss was on a foreign trip.

“Items stolen included five split air conditioners, a chest freezer, a pumping machine, a fridge and freezer, one inverter, and jewellery. All the items have been valued at N5.5 million.”

According to the police investigation, Folorunso moved the items from their boss’s residence, while Mutairu assisted in finding buyers.

Investigations further revealed Folorunso ran away to Badagry after committing the crime, and all efforts to get him to assist in the recovery of those items proved futile,” the statement added.

The suspects were said to have later been arrested in the Badagry and Ishasi areas of Lagos State, respectively.

The RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has reportedly directed that the suspects be charged in court.

PUNCH reported in August that a 33-year-old cleaner, Charles Sunday, was arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a gold chain and other items valued at N3,250,000 from his employer.
