AAUA DVC, Daramola, to Present 30th Inaugural Lecture

A renowned professor of Counselling Psychology and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Adebisi Clement Daramola, will deliver the University’s 30th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The lecture, titled “Crossing the Crossroads of Life: The Counselling Pathways,” will be held at 2:00 PM in the University Multipurpose Hall, with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 PM. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will chair the lecture.

Prof. Daramola’s academic journey began with a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Physics and Chemistry from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, in 1977. He later earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Ibadan in 1981 and 1984, respectively. In 1993, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti.

He joined Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, in 1988 as a Lecturer II and moved to Akungba Akoko in 1999. In 2004, he was appointed Professor of Counselling Psychology.

Prof. Daramola has held numerous key positions at AAUA, including Director of the Institute of Education, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Pioneer Dean of Student Affairs, Pioneer Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and Chairman of various University boards and committees. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.) and Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee.

Prof. Daramola is a prolific academic, authoring three books, contributing to three others, and publishing over 30 articles in recognised journals globally. He has participated in over 25 local and international conferences in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Israel.

His professional affiliations include memberships in the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Nigerian Association of Educational Psychologists (NAEP), World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), USA, and the International Federation for Psychotherapy (IFP), Germany, among others.

Prof. Daramola has received global accolades, including the American Medal of Honor, the International Peace Prize from the Consulate of the United Cultural Convention, USA, and the Outstanding African Achievers’ Gold Award in Ghana, among others.
