Police investigate identity of decomposed body dumped behind transformer
The Ebonyi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of a decomposed body found behind a power transformer in Abakaliki.
According to the state police spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, the body was located along Onogoro Street, which leads to the international market.
Ukandu confirmed that the command is actively working to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death.
He stated, “We have received reports of the corpse found in the vicinity of the market. An investigation is underway to uncover what actually transpired. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area has been notified, and efforts are being made to remove the body.”
Currently, there is no information on how the body ended up behind the transformer or the cause of death.
Ukandu added, “Whether the deceased was involved in vandalism or any other activity remains unknown at this stage.”
