More trouble as ex-PDP guber candidate Adebutu gets police invitation after DSS grilling

Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in the 2023 elections, has been summoned by the police after a recent questioning session with the Department of State Services (DSS).

This invitation reportedly relates to alleged disruptions during the November 16, 2024, local government elections, in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all contested seats.

According to sources, Adebutu is accused of deploying approximately 40 unauthorized police officers from Lagos and mobilizing PDP supporters to interfere with the election process.

However, following his DSS interview on Tuesday, Adebutu dismissed these accusations as baseless and claimed the questioning was an attempt to suppress his voice as an opposition figure.

Adebutu explained, “Around 7 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, I was released by the DSS in Abeokuta after being invited to respond to a range of unfounded allegations stemming from the November 16 local government election in Ogun State.

“Unfortunately, these accusations lacked merit, underscoring that the real intent was to silence my opposition voice. Speaking out against the fairness of these elections is my fundamental right.”
