Chemical explosion injures one person in Lagos
A chemical explosion along the old Abeokuta Motor Road in Lagos has injured a yet-be-identified lady.
The victim of the incident was said go have sustained first-degree burns following the explosion which occurred due to prolonged exposure of the stored chemical to heat.
Confirming the incident, Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services said the explosion occurred at about 7 pm on Friday at 291, Old Abeokuta Motor Road, opposite Vetland Secondary School, Agege, Lagos.
According to Ms Adeseye, the chemical was stored in various sizes of kegs and was kept in an open space.
She said the service has rescued a female at the location of the explosion.
See added that the victim had been taken go the hospital for medical attention while the service has commenced investigation into the type if chemical that caused the havoc and its ownership.
“The rescued lady is however responding to treatment from sustained first-degree burns,” Ms Adeseye said.
