BREAKING: Tinubu appoints acting CG of Nigerian correctional service

President Bola Tinubu has named Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

This appointment follows the conclusion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure, which began under former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021.

The Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, announced the decision in a statement on Friday. Ndidi’s new role officially starts on December 15, 2024.

Ahmed detailed that Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, previously served as the Deputy Controller-General overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate.

He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic.

President Tinubu urged Ndidi to apply his extensive experience to his new responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of effective leadership in the correctional service.
