APC Chieftain Joe Igbokwe Says Atiku Should Wait Until 2031 for Presidential Bid
Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions for 2027 are unrealistic. In a post on his Facebook page, Igbokwe stated that Atiku should reconsider his pursuit of the presidency in 2027 and instead focus on running in 2031.
Igbokwe argued that Atiku’s age could be a significant obstacle to his chances in 2027 and that the upcoming election would not favor the Adamawa-born politician. He emphasized that, given the circumstances, Atiku’s presidential aspirations for 2027 are unlikely to succeed.
“Atiku Abubakar is still struggling and dreaming of becoming president in 2027. It won’t work, considering all factors. He should wait until 2031, and even then, age is not on his side,” Igbokwe wrote.
Igbokwe’s comments come in the wake of similar statements from George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who suggested that no Northern candidate should challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 race.
