NYSC to Increase Monthly Allowance for Corps Members to N77,000 – DG
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced plans to raise the monthly allowance for corps members from N33,000 to N77,000.
Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed Dogara, the Director-General of the NYSC, confirmed the increase during a visit to the Kaduna orientation camp. He explained that the adjustment is pending the completion of financial processes before it can be implemented.
Dogara also reiterated the NYSC’s firm stance on maintaining discipline, citing recent cases where corps members were sanctioned for misconduct. He reminded participants of the rules outlined in the NYSC bylaws and urged them to adhere to them.
Additionally, the DG expressed concerns over the dangers of traveling at night, which has led to accidents and kidnappings. He advised corps members to prioritize their safety by avoiding such travel, emphasizing that the NYSC is committed to ensuring the security and well-being of all participants.
