Trainee Herbalist Claims He Killed 41-Day-Old Son Under a Spell
A trainee herbalist, Ifagbenga Taiwo, has confessed to killing his 41-day-old son in the Keesi area of Adatan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, claiming he was under a spell at the time. Taiwo was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command following the incident, which occurred last Monday.
According to reports, the tragedy unfolded when the baby’s mother, Raimat Wasilat, left him on a bed to wash clothes outside their home. Upon returning to the room, she discovered her son with a slit throat and raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbors and the police.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and stated that the mother had implicated her husband in the infant’s death.
In a video obtained during police interrogation, Taiwo admitted to the crime, explaining that he was not in control of his actions. Speaking in Yoruba, he recounted the series of events that led to the killing.
Taiwo said that earlier in the day, he had given his wife money for household expenses and left for his apprenticeship. However, he returned home after realizing he had forgotten some protective charms. While at work, he began to feel restless and overwhelmed by an urge to commit a crime.
