Kogi Governor Mourns Veteran Journalist Rafatu Salami
The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran journalist and National Treasurer of the International Press Institute, Rafatu Salami. She passed away in the early hours of Friday in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismail Isah, the governor extended condolences to Salami’s family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the International Press Institute, and the Voice of Nigeria, where she served as Assistant Director of Digital Media until her demise.
“While we mourn the loss of our sister and one of Nigeria’s distinguished female journalists, we take solace in her legacy of remarkable achievements, unwavering integrity, dedication to public service, and compassion for humanity,” Governor Ododo stated.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and strength for her family to bear the loss.
Rafatu Salami, a native of Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, passed away at the age of 55. She was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja following Islamic rites.
