Inspector-General Egbetokun Visits Family of Kwara Man Allegedly Tortured to Death in Custody
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the investigation into the death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri, who allegedly died under police custody in Kwara State on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Demonstrating the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to justice, the IGP traveled to Kwara State on Sunday, December 22, 2024, to meet with the grieving family of the deceased. He was received by Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, who represented the family during the visit. The IGP expressed heartfelt condolences and vowed to thoroughly investigate the incident, promising that those responsible would be held accountable.
The IGP emphasized the need for an impartial and comprehensive probe, instructing the FCID to ensure the case is handled with professionalism and urgency. He reassured the public of the Force’s dedication to maintaining accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
Reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct, the IGP urged the public to remain calm and trust in the due process of the law.
