APC leaders condemn call by Benue group for SGF’s removal
The leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State have condemned the recent call by a group in the state for the removal of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume from office.
Recall that a group made up of Gubernatorial Liaison Officers, had recently protested in Makurdi calling for the removal of Senator Akume from office.
Addressing the media at the end of the APC stakeholders meeting held Sunday in Makurdi, the APC leaders cautioned those behind the call to desist.
In a resolution read by Senator Jack Gyado, the leaders also decried the factionalisation of the party in the state and urged all members of the party to form a united front and rally round Senator Akume who led the party to victory during 2023 general elections.
They maintained that “Senator Akume remains our leader and we condemn any call by any group or persons for his removal as SGF because we are happy with position and we do not want any other position.
“He led us in 2023 and ensured that APC took Benue and delivered the state to President Bola Tinubu and we will remain resolute in our support for President Tinubu.”
The leaders also declare support for Mr. Austin Agada to lead a united APC in the State and urged members of the party to queue behind the Agada leadership.
They also endorsed President Tinubu to run in the 2027 election assuring that they would mobilise the state “to ensure that we give him 100 percent in the election.”
They thanked President Tinubu for the all the appointments given to the people of the state assuring that “Senator Akume will lead us to deliver Benue and all North Central states to the APC in the coming elections.”
