No empathy for starving Nigerians” – Bode George blasts Tinubu over media chat

Elder statesman and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Bode George, has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s recent media chat, describing it as lacking empathy and humanity.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, George expressed disappointment in the President’s remarks, particularly in light of the hardship faced by many Nigerians.

Referring to the recent stampedes in Abuja, Anambra, and Ibadan during food distributions, which tragically claimed 67 lives, George said there is growing hunger and frustration in the country.

He criticized the administration’s insistence that its reforms are effective, despite worsening poverty and business closures.

“Hunger doesn’t believe in your talk; you’ve got to be real. It’s getting worse by the day,” George lamented.

George questioned the tone of the President’s media chat, noting the absence of somberness and compassion amidst the nation’s struggles.

“I’m surprised there is no iota of somberness and humanity in the discussion. Why do you have a discussion in the first instance?” he asked.

He urged the government to reduce the price of petrol and provide immediate palliatives to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, whom he described as being impoverished by current policies.

George concluded by asserting that Tinubu’s approach to addressing national issues is not the right way to close out a challenging year for the country.
