Breaking: DSS arrests blogger who cloned website for fake recruitment
Abuja: Luck has run out of a fraudster, who cloned the website of the Department of State Services for the purpose of using it to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The man, whose name was given as Sylvester Victor Augustus, hails from Abak in Akwa Ibom State, and was promptly tracked and arrested by operatives of the DSS before he could actualise his dubious ambitions.
Thirty two-year-old Augustus, who claims to be a blogger and content creator, had cloned the DSS website and claimed the security agency was calling for applications for recruitment, when the reverse was the case with a view to extorting unsuspecting members of the public for pecuniary gains.
But in a jiffy, the DSS disclaimed the recruitment drive and the fake website, describing it as a scam and urged the public to ignore it.
The agency thereafter tracked Augustus to his Akpan Eno Street in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and arrested him on Thursday.
A source confirmed to Vanguard that Augustus, who claims to be a graduate of the University of Uyo, will soon be charged to court.
“He will soon be arraigned in court,” the security source confirmed to Vanguard on Friday morning in Abuja.
