The authorities of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide have announced that the fifth President of the church, Pastor John Obafemi, will be laid to rest on Friday.
This is according to a statement signed by the Director of Publicity for the church, Pastor Alawode Ademisoye, obtained on Tuesday.
The church noted that the funeral programmes, which started at the deceased’s residence in Lagos on January 16, 2025, with a Service of Songs, will proceed to his hometown, Isare Opin in the Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State on January 23, where a Christian Wake Service will be held.
The interment and outing services will be held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Alaafia District Headquarters at Isare Opin on Friday, January 24 at 9 am
According to the church, Pastor Obafemi was the oldest retired military officer of the Nigerian Army until his death on November 22, 2024.
“He was appointed the fifth President of CAC on June 9, 1993, at a critical time in the Church’s history. He did his best to keep the Church together and he retired in 1997. He lived to a ripe, old age of 111 years,” the statement said.
The President of CAC, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele and other principal officers of the church will minister at the burial and outing services.
