The Nigerian Military has confirmed the killing of two notorious terrorist kingpins, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, during an operation in Zamfara State.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, announced the development at the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference in Abuja.

According to him, the elimination of the two terrorists has put their leader, Bello Turji, under significant pressure, forcing him into a desperate search for escape routes.

The operation, carried out under “Operation Show No Mercy,” also led to the neutralization of four of their foot soldiers in Ruwan Dawa village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The military confirmed that these terrorists were responsible for multiple cases of killings and kidnappings in the region.

During the operation, troops, in collaboration with local security forces known as vigilantes, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.

Security forces also recovered three motorcycles and a cache of firearms from the terrorists.

Speaking on the success of the operation, General Musa emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination among the military’s Joint Task Forces to sustain the momentum against insurgents.

“It is important to emphasize that the strength of our Joint Task Forces lies in our ability to operate as a cohesive and integrated force. Consequently, the collaboration and mutual support demonstrated during this conference must continue to guide our operations in the field,” he said.

The Nigerian Military remains committed to intensifying its offensive against terrorist groups operating in the region.
