Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has strongly opposed her six-month suspension from the Senate, vowing that the injustice against her “will not stand.”
Speaking on Thursday before being escorted out of the chamber, she condemned the decision, which stemmed from a series of recent events.
The controversy began on February 20 when she had a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements. Days later, during an interview with Arise News, she alleged that her challenges in the Senate started after rejecting Akpabio’s alleged sexual advances.
On Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan formally submitted a sexual harassment petition against Akpabio on the Senate floor and resubmitted it on Thursday during plenary.
However, the Senate Ethics Committee recommended her suspension, citing her previous exchange with the Senate President as the basis for their decision.
Despite the suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan remains defiant, insisting that she will not back down in her fight against injustice.
